Riding The Plaça del Tren Loop
The line a rider actually takes across the town, rather than the one the map suggests: the old road’s town fragments do not join up — forcing a crossing along them costs double the distance, doubles back twice and still cannot manage half — so the real crossing runs the Mister Green streets and the Plaça del Tren, where the railway ended and never went further. Half of this loop carries no road number at all. It is also where every café on the corridor is, and it closes on the southern arcs of the ring.
This is a true 3.6 km circuit: the road closes naturally rather than using an artificial turnaround.
The route is read through settlement edges: narrow streets, rooflines, roundabouts, church towers, old road alignments, and the moment the built fabric releases the rider back into open country.
Captured in muntro Relief, gradient, and how to pace it
The profile is restrained by Mallorca standards: 11 m separates its lowest and highest points. The interest comes from rhythm, surface changes, exposed straights, and the way the road moves through the landscape rather than one headline climb.
Use the opening kilometres to find cadence and keep the power smooth. The route is ideal for endurance work, recovery riding, or simply exploring the island without a large climbing bill.
Points to watch for
The best Mallorca routes are remembered as a sequence of places, not as a GPX line. These are the changes of scene that organise this ride.
- 01
sa Pobla
The route rolls away from sa Pobla, giving you a few minutes to find cadence and read the road ahead.
- 02
Across sa Pobla and back round the ring
Across sa Pobla and back round the ring is one of the route’s defining changes of scene and a useful marker for pacing the ride.
- 03
27 m high point
At 27 m high point, the elevation trace reaches its ceiling before the road releases the height it has earned.
Why this road works indoors
muntro does not flatten the Plaça del Tren Loop into a workout backdrop. The route’s bends, height, and junction order come from the road itself, while a compatible trainer reproduces the changing gradient under your pedals.
Because the course closes naturally, it works especially well for repeated laps, steady endurance rides, and comparing the same decisions under fatigue.
