Riding Cap de ses Salines
The flattest road in the world so far, and the only one that ends at a lighthouse. Sixteen and a half kilometres due south from the port at Colònia de Sant Jordi, through the café terraces of ses Salines, and then out along the Ma-6110 across open garriga to the Far des Cap de ses Salines — the southernmost point of Mallorca, with Cabrera on the horizon. There is nothing to climb here: the whole ride averages a third of a percent. What it has instead is exposure, salt in the air, and a turning point you can see coming for nine kilometres.
This point-to-point line covers 16.4 km, from Colònia de Sant Jordi toward ses Salines toward the lighthouse at the island’s southern tip.
This is coastal Mallorca rather than a generic blue horizon: the road’s relationship with coves, cliffs, ports, stone retaining walls, and open water is what defines it.
Captured in muntro Relief, gradient, and how to pace it
The profile is restrained by Mallorca standards: 65 m separates its lowest and highest points. The interest comes from rhythm, surface changes, exposed straights, and the way the road moves through the landscape rather than one headline climb.
Use the opening kilometres to find cadence and keep the power smooth. The route is ideal for endurance work, recovery riding, or simply exploring the island without a large climbing bill.
Points to watch for
The best Mallorca routes are remembered as a sequence of places, not as a GPX line. These are the changes of scene that organise this ride.
- 01
Colònia de Sant Jordi
The route starts at the southern port and turns inland through flat salt country.
- 02
ses Salines
Café terraces and low town streets are the last built place before the cape.
- 03
Far des Cap de ses Salines
The lighthouse marks Mallorca’s southern tip with Cabrera on the horizon.
Why this road works indoors
muntro does not flatten Cap de ses Salines into a workout backdrop. The route’s bends, height, and junction order come from the road itself, while a compatible trainer reproduces the changing gradient under your pedals.
The point-to-point format gives the session a destination. There is no need to invent a finish when the real road already has one.
